We might have been told to stay at home for the past month but that doesn’t mean that November and early December was slow for new car news. In fact, we’ve gotten sneak peeks at several upcoming models and had several updates on releases of others, so we’ve rounded these up into one post of new car news for the end of the year.
What’s Been Spotted:
We’ve caught a glance of a few different new models on the road from various brands including Mercedes and BMW take a look at these below and see what you think.
2021 Mercedes-Benz C Class
The next generation of C Class is due to be officially unveiled in the new year, however the compact executive was spotted on the roads being test driving in November and again earlier this month.
Prototypes have been spotted with little camouflage wrapping on, on just the front and rear ends this time and it’s clear that the new generation will maintain the size, proportions and overall body silhouette of the current C Class.

Despite the fact the exterior changes look little the C Class has in fact undergone major changes with this new model. There will be highly efficient hybrid powertrains that reflect Mercedes’ and the industry as a whole’s move towards greener models.
This fifth-generation model is expected to have many of the driver assistance and interior developments that were introduced on the new S Class, including minimalist dash with large touchscreen infotainment control centre with voice-controlled MBUX system and digital driver display.
At the minute this new C Class is expected to hit the UK market mid-2021 and we’ll keep you updated on any news.
2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS
The new CLS was spotted for the first time ahead of its official reveal in 2021.
Photographs taken at Nürburgring in mid-November show a disguised prototype of the four-door coupe being driven around the track.
There looks to be few exterior changes from the outgoing third-generation model especially as we can clearly see the rear bumper and body panels as only the front bumper was wrapped in camouflage wrapping.

We’ve yet to get a glimpse at the 2021 CLS interior but this is expected to be in line with the recently released E Class and S Class models. These have a more technology centred design, with a voice-controlled MBUX system that links to a touchscreen infotainment centre and a digital driver display screen.
As Mercedes make the move towards a more electrified fleet and are introducing an EQ Boost mild-hybrid power trains it’s likely that there will be options on the new CLS with this technology as well.
The 2021 CLS is expected to be available mid-2021 and we will let you know any further updates along the way
2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE spotted
The EQE will be Mercedes fully electric executive saloon that’s set to rival the likes of Tesla Model S when it is launched in 2022.
It’s expected to be slightly smaller than the EQS, that is expected to hit the roads next year, but shares similar features.
This is the first time that the EQE has been seen in testing since it was officially confirmed to be in production by Mercedes in early October.

Without the traditional combustion engine less room is needed under the bonnet which allows for a shorter, flatter front end and a roomier interior.
Instead of following in the footsteps of the similarly sized E Class the EQE has more of a coupe style silhouette like the EQS.
When confirming the EQE in October Mercedes also confirmed that there will also be an EQE SUV model that sits beneath the EQS SUV.

2022 BMW X7 Started On-Road Testing
The other brand we’ve seen a new model being tested for that’s excited us is BMW. More specifically with the testing of the new X7 model.

This is an updated version of the current X7 SUV which was launched in 2018 and is a favourite of drivers looking for a luxury SUV with a sense of adventure and tech-focused, high-quality finish.
The new X7 is expected to launch in 2022 so there’s plenty of time for changes but from the version that’s been spotted we can see it will retain the striking front grille of the current edition.
We can already see changes to the X7’sheadlights, with them looking to be lower and a more rectangular shape and with a lower bumper.
It’s not yet been announced what powertrains the 2022 X7 will be available with but there’s speculation that there may be a hybrid version. Previously BMW have advised that any hybrid will need to have a fully electric range of over 50 miles so that it complies with China’s market regulations as the model is particularly popular there.

Details on Release Dates, Prices and More:
As well as new models on the road we’ve also had a few details confirmed on vehicles expected to go on sale in the new year. We’ll be doing a post shortly rounding up all the new cars expected in 2021 but these were two we received further information on in the last couple of weeks we’re particularly excited for.
First Details for the 2021 Nissan Qashqai Confirmed
The Nissan Qashqai has been a favourite of families and SUV lovers since it first hit the roads in 2007 and it’s about to get a major overhaul.
Earlier in the month Nissan released more details on the upcoming third-generation model and gave a glimpse of the revamped interior.

Expected in early 2021 it will be slightly larger than its predecessor with an extra 35mm length, 32mm width, 25mm in height and an extra 20mm added to the wheelbase but despite this it retains its compact exterior. We can expect shoulder room in the front, headroom for all passengers and rear legroom to be improved by the slightly larger dimensions.
The centre console has been redesigned with a nine-inch high-resolution touchscreen that offers wireless Apple CarPlay and app connectivity, there’s a 12.3-inch instrument display on top models and a 10.8-inch heads up display which Nissan claim is the largest in the segment. As well as this there’s wireless phone charging and additional and more practical storage solutions including lower cup holders that prevent you from knocking drinks with your elbow when changing gears.
Nissan have also added a number of premium finishing touches, including massaging front seats, ambient lighting and a focus on tactile materials.

2021 Jaguar F Pace SVR
The F-Pace SVR is the fastest, sportiest version of the SUV and has a supercharged V8 engine. It’s also the last of the line up to get an update and the SUV will get a new look exterior, new technology and an interior upgrade.
On the exterior, there are a few changes that give it a facelift but keep it in line with the outgoing model. It’s got three large air intakes on the front bumper, new light-grey trim around the outer edged, and there are new headlights at the front and brake lights at the rear.
The new model has the same 5-litre V8 engine as the previous model, producing the same 550 brake horsepower but has been tweaked to deliver 20Nm more torque. Jaguar have also updated the suspension tuning and given the SVR a new steering wheel rack to make it a more agile SUV.
The interior is where the most notable changes are though, with new leather trims and carbon-fibre inserts to give it a sleeker, more modern look. The steering wheel now has touch-sensitive pads rather than buttons for controls, and an 11.4-inch infotainment touchscreen which eliminates most of the buttons for a clearer dash.
