The six month extension on MOTs that had previously been granted to UK drivers is due to end this month.

If your MOT is due on or after the 1st of August then you will need to arrange for this to be completed as you normally would.

The government have advised you should not take your vehicle for an MOT if you are self-isolating due to a member of your household having coronavirus symptoms or you have been advised to shield as you are extremely vulnerable to coronavirus.

If this applies to you then some MOT centres will collect your vehicle, carry out the MOT and return it to you. It is worth calling your local MOT centre to see if this is a service they currently provide.

The Department for Transport is working with insurers and police to ensure that no one is unfairly penalised for not being able to get an MOT.
