Earlier this month Dacia gave us an insight into the direction of the company’s future with their new model the Spring Electric.

We first saw this concept car back in March, and the design remains very similar to what we saw then. The light grey exterior has highlights of matte fluorescent orange on the trim along the wings, roof bars and lower door panels.

This will be the first fully electric vehicle in their line up as well as their first city car, although it still maintains the styling of the SUVs that Dacia is known for. Despite its urban proportions the raised ground clearance, large wheel arches, skid plates that are built into the front and rear bumpers and roof rack make it feel like an SUV and give it a more impressive road presence.

Dacia say that special attention has been paid to the design of the front lights, with the LED headlights fitted in two ways as a horizontal strip on the upper section and four graphic features built into the bumper. There are four full LED lights at the rear that create a double Y effect. The manufacturer says this look is a preview of future Dacia lighting design.

The new Spring Electric draws on Dacia’s parent company Groupe Renault’s 10 years of experience and excellence in electric vehicles to make sure the Spring Electric is the best possible car it can be.

Dacia have advised that based on WLTP testing the Spring Electric will have a mileage range of just over 124 miles.

On the inside a 3.5-inch driver information display between the front dials is expected as standard, with an optional seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that uses Apple CarPlay / Android Auto to keep you connected as you drive.

Dacia are a brand known for their affordable vehicle and the Spring Electric is no exception, it’s being touted as Europe’s most affordable fully electric vehicle.

It’s expected to launch in Europe in the first half of 2021, and if successful there we can expect to see it in the UK not long after that. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more on the release date for the Spring Electric.
