Those looking for a way to run their business from the comfort of a luxury SUV have had their prayers answered this week as Land Rover launch a brand new Discovery Commercial, and it’s available to order right now for its first deliveries around April time.

From the outside, the Disco Van looks just like its luxury car counterpart with its wide-spaced double-wishbone design at the front, and advanced multi-link layout at the rear. The brand’s iconic all-terrain capabilities are sustained despite the vehicle’s suspension delivering more responsive handling and, as you can expect from the luxury SUV, all your journeys will be confident, comfortable and engaging.

The big differences between the car and van versions of this vehicle can be found on the inside. Both the second and third rows of seating have been replaced with 1,856 litres of hard-wearing load-space, measuring 1,635mm long, 939mm high and 1,411mm wide. For those who want to conceal the fact their Discovery is a commercial vehicle, the exterior design is identical to that of the car with rear window concealment panels masked by privacy glass, making it indistinguishable as a commercial vehicle unless of course you decide to throw on some extravagant signwriting.

The vehicles come exclusively with four-wheel drive, automatic transmission, twin-speed transfer box, air suspension and a full-sized spare wheel. The gearbox, centre differential and chassis systems are also optimised thanks to Land Rovers unique Terrain Response systems. The 2.0D SD4 diesel engine, which is the entry level engine, kicks out an impressive 237bhp but if that’s not enough, you can upgrade to the 6-cylinder 3.0 litre TD6 engine, which will get you tidy 258bhp.

The Discovery Commercial will be available in three specifications, each more impressive than the last, and while the top spec HSE is filled with a number of bells and whistles the entry level S spec is definitely not something people will be turning their noses up at. The key features of each of the three specifications are as follows:

S

  • Load space Capability
  • Electronic Air Suspension
  • Privacy Glass
  • Leather Seats In Ebony
  • Powered inner Tailgate
  • Iconic Land Rover Wheels
  • Emergency Braking

HSE

In addition/replaces S and SE content…

  • Meridian Sound System 380W with 10 speakers plus a Duel Channel Subwoofer

  • Keyless Entry
  • Rear View Camera
  • Powered Gesture Tailgate
  • Blind Spot Monitor and Reverse Traffic Detection
  • Push Button Start Stop

As you can imagine there are also a number of additional options you can add if you’re willing to pay the price, including Surround Camera System and Electric Sun Roof. Essentially you can build your vehicle to be as basic (as a Land Rover can be) or as luxurious as you want without it losing its versatile commercial capabilities, you’ll be the envy of the workplace.
